Looking Into The Future by Mgcini Nyoni

A white wedding
with a thousand
bridesmaids
and a million white doves
Perhaps
A horse drawn carriage
Vintage wine
and a decorator from New York
A skyscraper of a wedding cake
with a thick layer
of butter icing
Perhaps
A honeymoon in Mauritius
Perhaps
A honeymoon around the world?
Perhaps
A team of servants
in a twenty room mansion
All vanity
All that really matters is
plain happiness
Me and You.

On Love's Wings by Vuyiswa Nofemele

I wish I could fly...
to you and sing with you while we...
swim in romantic repose
Without a worry in the world
where no one sees
or hears destruction.
Unpolluted love that sweeps
away the pain
and...
soothes pained hearts
sweeps away worry
to cast it into abyss
My mouth reaches for yours
to suck in the honey
of your...
sweet oral cavity
as we engage in privacy
that  only two souls
know how..
Not letting anything
or anyone
come between us
as our inner souls
and essence connect
passion rising to a crescendo. Love...
runs deep and allows us to connect...
planting deep roots. Roots of love,
commitment and absolute loyalty.
As I whisper, ""please be mine forever""
you say ""yes""

Dai Ndiri Shiri by Mgcini Nyoni

Model - Mary Kapumha

Dai ndiri shiri*
ndaibhururuka**
To a place peaceful
a place of still waters
and peaceful  dreams
Dai ndiri shiri
I would fly
to the place
where maidens
dance in the rain
and there is
always a pot
of gold
at the end
of the rainbow
Dai ndiri shiri
I would fly
to the sky
and grab
all the illusive
dreams
and opportunities
so that I can sing
I can
Ndai ndiri shiri
ndaibururuka
to that place
of still waters
that sooth the soul
from the this
tortuous world
that threaten
to swallow me whole
Dai ndiri shiri...

*Dai ndiri shiri – if I was a  bird
**Ndaibhururuka – I would fly

I Dream Of Africa by Mgcini Nyoni

I dream of Africa
The open space
that tell of endless possibilities
the mesmerising beauty
the black beauty
of the women in
lovely head wraps
and colourful bangles
that tell you
You are home
I dream of Africa
where every woman
is a queen
I dream of Africa
where the smiles are
as big and lovely
as the African sunrise
the hearts as big
as the Kilimanjaro
and as vast as the Atlantic
I dream of Africa
where the woman are
full of
tender loving care.

Pindirai by Mgcini Nyoni

We have danced
and sweated
sweated and bled a river.
We have sung and prayed
We have played our drums
have hit our percussions
to a shrieking crescendo
prophets clad in
red
green
yellow
have shaken our heads
into dizzy confusion
dirty fingers inserted
into girls and mothers.
We have sung
and danced
and prayed
And have hit
the same brick walls
We look up to the heavens
and say
Pindirai Mwari*

* Pindirai Mwari – please intervene God.

Plastic Women by Mgcini Nyoni

Those
who come close
to putting sta-soft
in their hair
And jik
on their faces
Maybe they do.
Those who know
where pizza inn is
where the salon is
where KFC is
They don’t know
where the library is.
Those who have
six inch fake nails
Razor cut
Hundred percent
Weave
et cetera
Those with
bright –red lips
and fake Chinese
face powder
Those who insist
on accented broken English
Those who think
the definition of good boyfriend
is a car .
Those who put sta-soft in their hair
and jik on their faces,
I call them plastic women.
